Rubber coating of parts ensures high durability and long lifespan

Rubber coating of various parts

Rubber coating, as the name suggests, involves applying a rubber layer. It is a specific process in which the appropriate rubber compound is applied with an emphasis on good adhesion to the object’s surface, as well as providing high heat resistance and durability against mechanical wear and aging.

Rubber coating primarily serves to protect surfaces against erosion, corrosion, cavitation, abrasion, and overall resistance to external influences. These processes lead to faster wear and, consequently, a shorter lifespan of the part. The solution is rubber coating. The specific method and technology used depend on the shape and complexity of the parts.

Rubber coating and its methods of implementation

We perform rubber coating through cold or hot vulcanization – the choice depends on the product’s characteristics. Cold vulcanization bonds the rubber to the substrate using adhesive (which is dissolved raw rubber). Hot vulcanization bonds the rubber to the substrate based on a chemical surface treatment, where appropriate pressure and temperature are applied in a vulcanization oven.

At Lusik Trade, we are experts in rubber coating characterized by chemical and temperature resistance, as well as resistance to any type of mechanical damage. We ensure the integrity of the rubber coating across the entire product, which significantly influences its lifespan and utility properties.

Rubber coating and materials used

In general, various materials can be used for rubber coating, combining both natural and synthetic rubber. As the names suggest, natural rubber occurs naturally in the sap of rubber trees as a polymer. In its raw form, it is extremely hard, which is why vulcanization (heating in the presence of sulfur) is desired to soften and make it more elastic. The largest suppliers of natural rubber are South America, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia.

Synthetic rubber is artificially produced through the polymerization of monomers, with the largest producers being China, Japan, Korea, and the USA. Among European countries, Germany is a key producer, where synthetic rubber was first manufactured in the mid-20th century, before its production spread to other countries.
